Super night for stars at Met's 'Superhero' galaThe red carpet was full of exclamation points last night. Anyone with
legitimate rights to use the "super" prefix -- supermodels, superstars,
superathletes, and the random super-stylish -- turned out at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art's renowned Costume Institute Gala to celebrate its new exhibit,
"Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy." Legendary designer Giorgio Armani (as tan of
skin as his hair is white) was honorary chairman of the splashy event. Vogue
chieftain Anna Wintour co-hosted with Julia Roberts and George Clooney.
Some superlatives of note:
Super-chic -- Julia Roberts, in a very sophisticated Armani gown with Grecian-y
folds, lightly dusted with sparkles, and Kristin Davis in a stunning Michael
Kors (the man, himself, on her arm).
Super-sexy -- Gisele Bundchen, in a strappy, flesh-toned Versace with a
devastating back.
Super-red -- Iman, in a Dolce & Gabbana sunburner.
Super-strapless -- Beyoncé, in a classic Armani look.
Super-sparkly -- Mischa Barton in Missoni, Hilary Duff in Elie Saab, Michelle
Trachtenberg in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent that's "gold lame, darling -- how
could it not be right for a superhero night?"
Super-short -- Diane Kruger, in a sexy Ferretti mini that's "like armor," she
said, so she felt it was a good pick for the night. Man on her arm -- Joshua
Jackson -- with a white jacket "that I wasn't sure about at first, but he looks
good," she said.
Super-lucky -- Hayden Christensen, who got a smack on the lips from Eva Mendes
as they walked into the lobby.
