Dawn of Black Christmas
Michelle Trachtenberg, best known to fanboys as Buffy’s little sister Dawn
from the latter years of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is doing better career-wise
than several of her old costars from that late show. The latest role the actress
has signed on for is not likely to win her any awards, but does sound fairly
high profile for her target demographic – she’ll be starring in a remake of
Black Christmas, the horror slasher from 1974.
Dark Horizons has the news, via Production Weekly, that Trachtenberg will play
the chief would-be victim in the tale of a sorority house that is terrorized by
a madman during the Christmas holiday break. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Katie
Cassidy, and Oliver Hudson have also joined the cast, which Glen Morgan
(Willard, The X-Files) is directing. Production is to start this month in
Vancouver.
The original Bob Clark film starred Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder,
and John Saxon. They sure don’t make ’em like that anymore.
