Trachtenberg Acts Odd
Buffy actress joins indie.
December 09, 2003 - According to today's Hollywood Reporter, Michelle
Trachtenberg (Dawn from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is lining up her next
project, an indie film called Odd Girl Out. The 18-year-old actress is in
final talks to star opposite Bijou Phillips (Bully, Almost Famous) in the
film.
The trade scoops that Trachtenberg will portray a teenage boarding school
student who is "considered the golden girl of her high school." It doesn't
take long for her to become archenemies with a new student (Phillips), who
has been sent to the school by her troubled mother. More drama unfolds as
Phillips' character falls in love with the cousin of Trachtenberg's
character.
Principal photography is slated to begin on January 12th in Los Angeles
under the direction of newbie helmer Deepika Daggubati (doesn't that just
roll right off the tongue?).
Trachtenberg, who got got her start in films like Harriet the Spy and
Inspector Gadget, gained popularity within the fan community when she took
on the role of Buffy's little sister Dawn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Fandom recently began buzzing about here again after a series of
provocative stills from her next film, Eurotrip, were released online (see
the related links below) – somebody pass the girl a drumstick or she's
gonna disappear! She'll follow Eurotrip, from DreamWorks, with an indie
drama called Mysterious Skin for director Gregg Araki.
