The Ugly Americans tells the story of two friends, one of whom has a
German pen pal helping him out with his high school German assignments. He
is quite surprised to learn his German writing buddy is a female and flies
off to Germany for some adventure. The Ugly Americans is clearly a teen
movie brought to us three former Seinfeld writers. According to a partner
in the production company, "On the one level, it's a teen movie, but one
that takes a fresh look at the genre, a really smart and different look at
it." While Seinfeld definitely took a fresh look at comedy on TV, can the
writers succeed with a teen movie aiming to be about something more than
nothing?
