Michelle Trachtenberg Comments on the Future of Buffy
Amid rumours that Buffy’s seventh season might be its last, Michelle
Trachtenberg has revealed it may be a bit premature to comment on whether
the show will be returning for an eighth season or not. Additionally, she
states that it is also too early to speculate whether Dawn’s character
will take center stage should star Sarah Michelle Gellar decide not to
return.
"People ask me what do I see as the future of Buffy," says Trachtenberg in
a SCIFI.COM report. "Honestly, I look at it episode-by-episode and even
day-by-day, because I can't project what will happen at the end of the
season. I have no idea what will happen, so I don't know how to interpret
the end of the season. I prefer to look at it as, 'OK, we're doing this,
and it will make this kind of notch in Buffy's television history.'"
While she can’t speculate on the future of the show, Trachtenberg is open
to the idea of Dawn being the focus if the show were to become Dawn the
Vampire Slayer.
"I'm a fan of Dawn," Trachtenberg explains. "I like her as a character. I
like playing her. I love the show. I'd want the original heart of BUFFY to
be there. If there's one second where someone would doubt Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, we probably shouldn't go on."
Buffy the Vampire Slayer's season premiere is Sept. 24 on UPN.
