NEW YORK, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- As kids around the globe prepare to
tune into Nickelodeon's 14th Annual Kids' Choice Awards next week, Nick
News will present the first authorized television biography of
kid-favorite and Kids' Choice Awards host Rosie O'Donnell, on Sunday,
April 15, from 8:30-9 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on Nickelodeon. This
special edition of Nick News, hosted and narrated by award-winning
journalist Linda Ellerbee, will chronicle O'Donnell's childhood, her early
days in stand-up comedy and her current success as an actress, talk show
host, Broadway performer and businesswoman. The program also will feature
exclusive interviews with O'Donnell's friends and colleagues, including
actress/director Penny Marshall, director Nora Ephron and actresses
Michelle Trachtenberg and Fran Drescher.
``Rosie O'Donnell has a unique way of connecting with kids and has been
delighting audiences with her kid-friendly sense of humor for years,''
said Ellerbee. ``We are pleased to give kids a look at what has made Rosie
the beloved entertainer she is today.''
In addition to her work as host and executive producer of The Rosie
O'Donnell Show, O'Donnell has forged a successful career spanning
television, the silver screen and stage. In addition to appearing on
Broadway, she has starred in several hit motion pictures since her film
debut eight years ago in A League Of Their Own, including Wide Awake,
Harriet The Spy, Now and Then, Sleepless In Seattle, The Flintstones, Exit
To Eden, and Another Stakeout. O'Donnell is also founder and president of
the For All Kids Foundation, an organization that awards grants to help
support the intellectual, social and cultural development of disadvantaged
children throughout the United States.
Nickelodeon's 14th Annual Kids' Choice Awards-this year celebrating the
power of kids in the new millennium -- will be hosted for the fifth
consecutive year by O'Donnell and will air live Saturday, April 21, from
8-9:30 p.m. (ET/Tape delay for PT). Backstreet Boys, Destiny's Child,
